Right, to start the discussion off I'll share my experiences of busking on solo clarinet around the Midlands. With no accompaniment I had to careful which pieces I chose to play, as songs with hefty accompaniments might have sounded weird with just the tune being played.
I wanted to perform songs that people might recognise and elderly people might like, as I was performing in a location that has a high number of older people.
The tunes that worked the best (sounded good and earnt money) included:
- Danny Boy (a winner - normally £5 in the box each time I played it!)
- On the Street Where You Live
- The White Cliffs of Dover
- The Lambeth Walk
- Moon River
- Old Man River
Does anyone also play these?
Anyone else busk on clarinet?
