Places in the South West where a licence is needed to busk, or performers are required to adhere to a council code of conduct:
Bath and North East Somerset – Buskers are expected to abide by the rules set by the council, which can be viewed at www.bathnes.gov.uk.
Bournemouth – Busking is not permitted on the seafront.
Cheltenham – A licence is not required but the council publishes a code of conduct for buskers which can be viewed on their website – www.cheltenham.gov.uk.
Gloucester – No licence is required but buskers are expected to comply with the council’s code of conduct.
Salisbury – A licence is not required to busk in Salisbury but performers have to comply with the council’s code of practice: www.salisbury.gov.uk/community/busking.
Totnes – A ‘busker’s badge’ is required which can be obtained from South Hams council – www.southhams.gov.uk.

Talked to the town centre manager of Bournemouth, they have a system requiring a licence and public liability insurance….both pretty expensive. Then there are just a few places to play….
Obviously nobody would wish to be a nuisance in any way, but this does make it really hard for students or those without cash up front…
Anyone else had to deal with bournemouth?
