West Midlands

Places in the West Midlands where a licence is needed to busk, or performers are required to adhere to a council code of conduct:

Birmingham – The council requires all buskers to fill in a application form to be added to the approved list of street entertainers. Buskers should seek permission from the Centre Managers of the Bullring, Martineau Place and Brindley Place to perform in these areas as they are privately owned. Application forms can be downloaded from the council’s website – www.birmingham.gov.uk

Solihull – No licence is required but buskers are expected to observe the council’s published guidelines.

Stoke-on-Trent – Stoke-on-Trent council requires buskers to obtain Public Liability Insurance before performing. For more information see www.stoke.gov.uk.

Stratford-on-Avon – No licence is required for most areas, but permission should be obtained before busking on council owned land. For further information e-mail streetentertainment@stratford-dc.gov.uk or telephone 01789 260 608.

Do you busk in this are regularly? Tried to perform somewhere and been turned away? If you’ve got any info about busking in this area that would be useful to other buskers, please leave a comment below.

hello buskers! a tip if you want to get a license in birmingham is to apply for it asap as i applied in november and was told i have to wait until the new year to get an audition! so i have misted all the christmas season, but i have been playing in Solihull instead and its been ok once you take off traveling cost from birmingham.
I am a blues player and if any one sees me playing in Solihull and you wanna jam along and you know a twelve bar feel free! but im not splitting my earnings with ya! :-p.
