The All-New Musical Busker!

As eager beavers out there might have already noticed, musicalbusker.co.uk has had a face lift! Apart from looking very pretty, the new site introduces a number of useful new features, including:

A Forum – visit here to share all your favourite busking tips with other performers, ask questions, get answers and generally mull over the burning busking issues of the day.

Busking opportunities – all busking jobs, opportunities and news items are now easy to access on the musicalbusker.co.uk homepage. But don’t worry if you’ve signed up to receive updates by e-mail – you’ll still get these sent straight to your inbox as normal.

Licence List – this is now sorted by region, so it’s really easy to look up whether you’ll need a licence or not before you perform.

Updates by RSS – if you’re a techy type and like to get your updates by RSS, now you can.

All the old favourites are still there, including licensing information, advice for enjoyable and profitable busking and the Busker Spotlight feature.

So what are you waiting for? Check out the all-new musicalbusker.co.uk now!

Alternatively, if you’re reading this on the homepage – welcome! Feel free to browse.

As always, if you have any comments or suggestions, get in touch on admin@musicalbusker.co.uk.

Important note: If you’ve previously participated in a Busker Spotlight, you’ll notice your feature doesn’t appear on the Busker Spotlight page yet. Don’t worry – it’ll be up there under the ‘Previous Spotlights’ section soon.

Buskers Stage at The Riverside Festival

The Riverside Festival which takes place annually on the first Saturday in July (4th July in 2009) would love to hear from any Artists interested in playing on their Buskers Stage.

The Riverside Festival is entirely staged and run by a small team of volunteers on a not for profit basis. Admission is FREE although donations from the public are encouraged to help the organisers cover the costs of staging the event. The Festival is held on the Meadows in the centre of the historic market town of Stamford, Lincolnshire, and is widely recognised as the best free live music festival in the East Midlands.

In 2008 over 28,000 people visited the festival across the course of the day with 10,000 on site at any one time. The festival has 3 other stages of live music, a real ale beer festival, children’s entertainment, stalls and catering and finishes with a firework finale.

Artists can pre-book a 20 minute slot to play on the Buskers Stage by e-mailing
info@riversidefestival.co.uk clearly marking their application ‘Buskers Stage’.

Unfortunately the registered charity that organise the festival are not able to offer a
fee, but with 10,000 people around it’s a good opportunity to promote your music!

For full information about the Riverside Festival please check out our website at www.riversidefestival.co.uk.
